Department Of Homeland Security Research Grant Aims to New Find Ways to Get the Public to Accept a Police State
'The Department of Homeland Security, in conjunction with the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council(EPSRC) in England, is funding a study to gauge new and innovative ways to get the public to accept so called “identify management” techniques.
The study will be carried out at Loughborough University in England and the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in the United States.
In a world that is increasingly being morphed into a full scale surveillance society, government officials are attempting to find new ways to get the public to accept police state measures such as national biometric id cards and implantable microchips.'

Syria Hails Historic Vetoes at UN
'"This is a historical day that Russia and China as nations are standing for the people and against injustices," Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's aide Bouthaina Shaaban told AFP on Wednesday in Damascus.
Russia and China on Tuesday vetoed the text maliciously drawn up by France, Britain, Germany and Portugal threatening military action and sanctions against Damascus. 'Israeli foreign ministry workers are irked by the suspension of Tel Aviv's deputy ambassador to Washington, saying the dismissal is yet another act of intimidation against the ministry.
Dan Arbel was relieved of his duties by the Israeli Foreign Ministry Director General Rafael Barak on Tuesday for allegedly leaking sensitive information to a Ha'aretz reporter back in 2009. Arbel's dismissal came after he admitted to leaking sensitive information about a dialogue between Israel and the United States concerning Iran's nuclear program.
The article angered US officials whose complaint prompted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's former national security advisor Uzi Arad to order an investigation by the Shin Bet security service into the affair. Turkey Starts Drills Near Syria Border
'The Turkish military has launched planned military exercises in the southern province of Hatay, near the border with Syria, as tensions remain high between Ankara and Damascus.
The eight-day drills began on Wednesday and will test the army's mobilization system and the communication between public institutions and the armed forces in case of any mobilization or war.Forty military vehicles and 730 stand-by personnel will participate in the exercise, codenamed Yildirim (Lightning)-2011.'

UK Renews Nuclear Weapons Claims, Threatens Iran
'British Defense Secretary Liam Fox has accused Iran of seeking nukes saying military option cannot be ruled out to prevent Iran's nuclear developments. “[Iran] is developing a nuclear programme no reasonable person can believe is purely for civil use,” Fox insisted saying “we do not rule anything out” to “stop Iran becoming a nuclear weapons state.
”Fox's threat come as Iran has repeatedly said that it is pursuing a civilian nuclear program under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and within the framework of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
It is also ironic that Fox accuses Iran of developing nukes, while Britain is preparing to upgrade its own Trident nuclear missiles under his own lead as Defense Minister and in clear violation of the NPT as a signatory to the treaty.'

'There were definitely some people who wanted to push through the barricades, but we peacefully remained in place for about 20 minutes. A few guys that I’ve never seen before were really agitating for us to break through. A few other people that I know, were considering it and we were trying to get an assembly together to try to figure out what our next move would be. At this point, the two guys that I’ve never seen before were the first to push into the barricades that were directly in front of about 50 police officers, and the instant that happened, pepper-spray was fired all over the place and the cops were swing their batons wildly.
I managed to get some footage of it on my flipcam, I will post some later, but I got some pepper-spray in my left eye and got pushed and shoved around so the footage is messy. Journalist Luke Rudkowski, from We Are Change, was directly to my right and he did an amazing job of getting footage, despite being pepper-sprayed and hit with a baton. I have to give major respect to Luke. His coverage of the protests from Day 1, and every single day since, has been among the best we’ve had. He’s fearless.'

Her family confirmed that the woman on TV is indeed Alhusni, but they have not yet been able to speak to her, Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch said in a joint statement.
"I saw on TV that security forces detained me and burned my body ... and that they cut it up and handed it to my parents," said the woman, who resembles pictures of Alhusni obtained by CNN. After that, the woman, who is from the restive city of Homs, said she decided to tell authorities the "truth."'
